Gereon Krebber (born in 1973 in Oberhausen, Germany) is a contemporary sculptor whose work explores the expressive and transformative possibilities of sculpture. Through an unconventional approach to materials, shapes and surfaces, he creates objects that oscillate between the familiar and the unexpected, the organic and the artificial, the beautiful and the grotesque.
His sculptures often evoke biological forms, bodily fragments or enigmatic organisms, suggesting something alive while remaining strangely ambiguous. Combining humour, absurdity and a certain sense of unease, Krebber challenges our perception of objects and their relationship to space. His works can appear fragile or monumental, playful or disturbing, inviting viewers to look beyond their initial impressions.
Working with a wide range of materials, including ceramics, metal, plaster and synthetic substances, Krebber embraces irregularity, imperfection and unexpected transformations. His artistic language questions traditional notions of beauty, craftsmanship and sculptural form, revealing the expressive potential of materials in their most unconventional states.
Through this interplay between attraction and repulsion, familiarity and strangeness, Gereon Krebber creates a distinctive sculptural universe that engages both the senses and the imagination. His works encourage us to reconsider the boundaries between art and everyday life, opening up a space for ambiguity, curiosity and discovery.
